HHS presents 'Dearly Departed'

The Hillsboro High School drama department will present "Dearly Departed," a play by David Bottrell and Jessie Jones. Performances are March 18 and 19 at 7:30 p.m. in the HHS auditorium.

The play takes place in the Baptist backwoods of the Bible Belt. The beleaguered Turpin family proves that living and dying in the south are seldom tidy and always hilarious. Despite their earnest efforts to pull themselves together for their Daddy Bud's funeral, the Turpins' other problems keep overshadowing the solemn occasion.

Amidst the chaos, the Turpins turn to their friends and neighbors, an eccentric community of misfits who just manage to pull together and help each other through their hours of need and finally, the funeral.

The cast includes: Peter Fast as Bud Turpin, Gina Andrews as Raynelle Turpin, Aaron Miller as Ray-Bud Turpin, Allison Kunkel as Lucille Turpin, Robert Jost as Junior Turpin, Alisa Prior as Suzanne Turpin, Danielle Hagen as Delightful Turpin, Emily Bebermeyer as Aunt Marguerite, Emily Railsback as Juanita, Emily Ratzlaff as Veda, Kelli Just as Verneda, Dana Suderman as Nadine, Laura Lindsay as Merline, Victor Rogers as Clyde, Karl Magnuson as Rev. Hooker, Whitney Allen as Mrs. Hooker, Jenny Whisenhunt as Bernice Talbot, and Kim Givens, Meredith Kliewer, Hannah Baumert, Elissa Richert, Adam Dirks and Greta Kliewer as the Joy of Life Singers and funeral guests.

Terry Bebermeyer is director.

Tickets may be purchased at the HHS office.
