HHS scholars bowl compete at Council Grove
Hillsboro High School Scholars' Bowl team finished 2-3 Jan. 7 at Council Grove.
The team defeated Northern Heights, 90-30, and Hope, 60-10; but lost to Lyndon, 50-70, Bluestem, 40-55, and Manhattan, 60-70.
"The team had three close matches that could have gone either way. Today we just happened to lose all three," said coach Stuart Holmes. "The team competed well and our students answered a lot of questions correctly."
Team members were Hannah Shope, Greta Kliewer, Meredith Kliewer, Clinton Schneider, and Peter Bartel.
The team competed Jan. 5 at Southeast of Saline and finished the day at 3-2.
They defeated Quivira Heights, 50-40, Sedgwick, 40-20, and Russell, 40-30. The team lost to Bennington, 30-50, and Ellsworth, 30-50.
Team members were Ben Bosworth, Meredith Kliewer, Greta Kliewer, Victor Rogers, Jacque Fisher, and Clinton Schneider.
