HHS valentine dessert banquet is Monday

The annual Hillsboro High School Valentine's Dessert Banquet will be at 7 p.m. Monday in the HHS commons.

Desserts will be served and musical entertainment will be featured.

The HHS Jazz Combo, under the direction of Gregg Walker, will provide instrumental music while desserts are being served.

Spirit-N-Celebration, under the direction of Lynn Just, will follow with a short Valentine-themed vocal concert, with love songs from different eras, including "My Sweet Lady" by John Denver, "Let's Hang On" as recorded by Barry Manilow, a 1920s style "Ain't She Sweet," "Love Changes Everything" from Andrew Lloyd Webber's "Aspects of Love," and "My Heart Will Go On" from the movie "Titanic."

The evening of food and entertainment is a fund-raiser and donations will be accepted to support the HHS Concert Choir trip to Colorado this spring where the choir will be competing at the Cavalcade of Music in Colorado Springs. They then will spend time at the Royal Gorge, Flying W Ranch chuck wagon dinner, Boulder Dinner Theatre, and other local attractions.

Monday evening's event will conclude with a drawing for any remaining desserts.
