Hillsboro athletes named to all-league rosters

Four Hillsboro High School volleyball players and six football players earned spots on the 2007 Mid-Central Activities Association all-league teams.

After a 10-1 championship league season and 31-6 record overall, the volleyball squad earned two unanimous positions on the first-team.

Sophomore outside hitter Dakota Kaufman and senior outside hitter Amy Neufeld received every possible vote for the team.

Senior Chelsea Bebermeyer was the lone second-team member, and senior Amanda Bina was named to the honorable mention team.

Spencer Brown led the honors for the football team, after the Trojans reached the second round of the state playoffs and finished 6-5.

The senior was named to the league's first-team as a quarterback and defensive back, and the honorable mention team as a kick returner.

Other first-teamers were Jacob Yoder, unanimous as a running back and punter, wide receiver Daniel Jost, and offensive lineman John Hein.

Jost also earned an honorable mention award as a defensive back, and Michael Sheele did as well as an offensive lineman.
