Hillsboro FCCLA attends District G events
The Hillsboro FCCLA attended District G STAR events and District Elections on Feb. 16 in Newton. The chapter entered two competitions. Whitney Allen competed in the "Power of One" event with a display and presentation on "A Better You." She earned a gold and will go on to compete at State FCCLA in April.
Kayla Letterman also competed in the "Power of One" event with a display and presentation on "Family Ties." She earned a silver and also will also go on to state competition.
Other FCCLA members attending and participating included Rose Vineski, student judge; Becky Steketee, room monitor; Stephanie Abbott and Jayme Claassen, voting delegates; and Jessica Allen, chapter president. Mrs. Leihy, adviser, served as one of the adult judges.
There are 18 chapters represented in District G.
"The members did a wonderful job," said Leihy. "I am very proud of them."
The chapter goes to Wichita in April to compete in the contests they qualified for and to attend the state meeting. It will be held at Century II.
