Hillsboro FCCLA attends district leadership academy

The Hillsboro FCCLA chapter attended the Fall Leadership Academy in Lyon Oct. 25. It was attended by 24 schools from the district with about 500 participants.

Michael Smith National FCCLA President from Goodland High School chapter, was keynote speaker for the day. He challenged students to become more active in FCCLA by developing leadership skills and becoming more family focused.

Randee Platt and Alex Earles spoke on getting involved in FCCLA. They gave many examples of how each member could get involved in their local chapter.

Throughout the day, students gained knowledge about state and national programs and community involvement activities.

The following members from HHS were honored: Evana Holtsclaw, Kayla Letterman, Brittany Dies, Tara Simhiser, Tasha Hoffner, Becky Steketee, Stephanie Abbott, Joshua, Elliott, and April Young. HHS was recognized for its Hurricane Katrina Community Service Project.

Additional embers attending included Jessica Allen, Viktoria Bichet, Jayme Claassen, Katrina Muzyka, Nichole Carlson, Ben Steketee, Brittany Davis, Shakiva Smith and adviser, Monica Leihy.
