Hillsboro FFA hosts, competes in dairy event
The Hillsboro FFA chapter hosted the South Central District Dairy Cattle Judging career development event Nov. 19.
The event consisted of six classes of dairy cows and heifers, which contestants had to evaluate and place. Contestants also took an exam covering dairy information. Classes were supplied by Doyle Jost, Ivan Schmidt, and Klassen Dairy.
Members participating from the Hillsboro chapter in the senior division included Brandon Brown, John Hein, Brea Allen, Jacob Fish, Alex Jost, and Neal Kaiser.
Those members participating in the greenhand division included Dylan Delk, Ethan Frantz, Landon Herbel, and Darren Mueller. Both teams placed second in their divisions.
Individually, Brown placed fifth, Jost was sixth, and Allen was ninth. In the greenhand division Mueller placed second, and Frantz was fourth.
Hillsboro FFA also competed in the Dairy Foods CDE hosted by the Goessel FFA Chapter.
Members participating in the senior division included Andy Klassen, Brandon Brown, Alex Jost, Jacob Fish, and Brea Allen.
Those participating in the greenhand division included Dylan Delk, Ethan Frantz, Landon Herbel, and Darren Mueller.
The senior team placed seventh overall. In the greenhand division, Herbel was fifth overall and the greenhand team placed fourth.
