Hillsboro LTC: Residents visit Botanica at Wichita

By Lisa Donahue

Summer has arrived! What better way to celebrate than a trip to Botanica Gardens in Wichita. We took off from Hillsboro June 16, ate lunch, and headed over to the gardens. We came back, full of good food, a little warm, and ready for a good night's sleep. Everyone had a good time. If anyone has suggestions for our next trip, let us know.

On Friday we slowed down and watched a movie about the dust bowl. Many of those watching had their own memories to share.

The weekend gave us a chance to rest, relax, and have visits from our family and friends. Some of the lucky men had special visitors in honor of Father's Day.

Monday brought friends from KDOA. We got to brag on some of the changes we're making, and they visited with several of the residents who live here. At the same time all that was going on, Lori brought a group over from her day-care. We are so excited about our new friends and that they will be visiting us every other week. Ernie found a special friend in a young man named Jeremiah; they even read a book together.

Tuesday we were going to celebrate the June birthdays but instead we said a special prayer for some of our birthday friends that were in the hospital and said goodbye to Jeanette as she died.

The rest of June will be filled with fun, music, bingo, a cow craft and a dairy party in honor of National Dairy Month.

Feel free to drop by and listen to the Gospel Messengers Tuesday or have some milk on June 30 and celebrate with us. We always enjoy the company.

Oh, and how can I forget, happy birthday Tim. Now I will find out if he even reads about what we do here at Hillsboro LTC!

Enjoy the heat, more next time.
