This last week of August has been jam-packed with a lot of activities. Kathy Fish came Monday morning to read stories. Bingo was played in the afternoon.
Thirteen residents enjoyed a meal Tuesday at McDonald's. Staff brought in their dogs for residents to pet in the afternoon. They were Melanie Scott and her dog Abby, Bonnie Hamm and her dog Tiny, Heather Crocker and dog Wiggles, Cameron and his dog Maverick, Dana riling and dogs Babe and Daisy. We had a howling good time eating puppy chow and petting dogs. Residents shared stories about dogs they have owned.
The residents finished their Bible study on the book of Phillipians. They decided to look at the Beattitudes in the book of Mathew during the month of September.
Residents watched the dog movie, "Eight Below," Thursday afternoon.
They spent Friday making refreshments for the family and resident get-together Friday evening. Families joined us to eat dirt cups and tumbleweed cookies. We also watched a movie made in the 1930s about the Dust Bowl.
Families and residents spent some time looking at the traveling exhibit from the Kansas State Historical Society, "Capturing the Times: Photographs of the Farm Security Administration 1936-1941." The exhibit features rarely-seen FSA photographs taken in Kansas, including Dust Bowl scenes, images of striking miners, farm auctions, and 4-H club fairs. This exhibit is open to the public from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. The exhibit is located in our front room/chapel area. The exhibit will be up until Sept. 13.
Mona Voth and her friends came Sunday afternoon to make cruellers and served watermelon before the church service. The United Methodist church gave the afternoon worship service.
