Hillsboro, Marion hospitals awarded KDHE grants
St. Luke Hospital of Marion, and Hillsboro Community Medical Center of Hillsboro, were among 95 Kansas hospitals to receive grants from Kansas Department of Health and Environment.
More than $800,000 was awarded to the hospitals as part of the federal government's Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) Small Hospital Improvement Program.
The funding will assist hospitals with billing systems to meet federal requirements for Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement, comply with provisions of Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), and reduce medical errors and support quality improvement.
To be eligible, hospitals must have 49 beds or less, be located outside a metropolitan area, and be a non-federal, short-term general acute care facility.
There is no requirement for matching funds with this program.
