Hillsboro native named new Star-J editor

Hillsboro native Eric Clark has been named news editor of the Hillsboro Star Journal.

He will take over officially on Sept. 1, replacing Jennifer Wilson, who has held the position for nearly two years.

Wilson, who came to Hillsboro from a daily newspaper in Idaho, has been offered positions at two large newspapers. She will travel in Europe before starting one of them.

Clark has been a sports editor for Hoch Publishing Co. for the past year, on the staff of the Marion County Record.

He will continue writing sports news, but his main thrust will be covering breaking news, writing feature stories, and designing pages of the Star-Journal, according to executive director Donna Bernhardt of Hoch Publishing Co. Inc.

Cathy Davis will remain as office manager.

Clark graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1995 and from Tabor College in 1999 where he was a member of the Blue Jays basketball team.

He and his wife, Christy, live south of Hillsboro.

From 1998 to 2000, Clark was a TV photojournalist for KSN-W in Wichita and from 2000 to 2001 he produced commercials for the Fox network TV station in Junction City.

Clark said he enjoys working for Hoch Publishing and in community journalism. His desire is to "make the Star-Journal an even better newspaper."

He asks for public cooperation and will welcome constructive suggestions.
