HILLSBORO: Netters compete at Collegiate
Hillsboro finished in the middle of the pack Saturday at the Wichita Collegiate invitational tournament.
The Trojans took eighth place as Smoky Valley and Goddard each claimed first.
Playing in the No. 1 singles bracket, Brandon Ratzlaff took fifth place. He opened the day by defeating Kapaun Mount Carmel's Childers 8-1 and Conway Spring's Rasmussen 8-2. Ratzlaff then lost to Goddard's Enegren before defeating McPherson's Gayer 8-3 and McPherson's Nye 8-2 in the consolation round.
In No. 2 singles, Hillsboro player Wade Kimbrel lost to Hesston's Arnhold 8-0, Collegiate's Johnson, and Wichita Trinity's Janzen.
Tyler Weinbrenner and Florin Nae, the No. 1 doubles duo for Hillsboro, lost to Goddard, Collegiate, and Trinity. No. 2 doubles players Kyle Kroeker and Macy Fadenrecht lost to Collegiate, Arkansas City, and Valley Center.
