Hillsboro police: Battery, trespass investigated

On July 16, Officer Michael Fisher investigated a complaint of battery and criminal trespass at Main Street Apartments. Geraldine Bauer of Hillsboro reported that the suspect went to her apartment. They had an argument, and the suspect allegedly grabbed the victim, ripping her shirt, and then threw a cigarette at her. The suspect had been told earlier by Scott Proffitt that he was not allowed on the property. Charges are pending against a 22-year-old Hillsboro man.

On July 19, Cathy Martin of Hillsboro, reported the theft of a pumpkin, valued at $10, from her front yard. The investigating officer was Michael Fisher. The pumpkin was recovered July 24.

On July 25, Officer Brad Richards investigated a two-vehicle accident at the corn of Ash and Third streets. Jason Schroeder of Hillsboro, driving a 2000 Chevrolet S10 pickup, was northbound on Ash. He cut the corner making a left turn westbound on Third Street. Caleb Marsh of Hillsboro, driving a 1977 AMC Jeep, was stopped on Third Street and proceeded into the intersection where the Schroeder vehicle hit the Marsh vehicle. David Marsh was a passenger in the Jeep. No injuries were reported.
