Hillsboro police: Library damage investigated
On Aug. 20, Hillsboro Police Officer Chad Funk investigated a bus and motor vehicle traffic accident on Madison and B streets. Milford W. Klassen of rural Hillsboro, driving a 1995 Ford B-series bus registered and owned by USD 410, was heading north on Madison Street.
Melissa M. Arnold of Hillsboro, driving a 1995 Dodge Intrepid, was eastbound on B Street. Klaassen failed to yield to the Arnold vehicle and struck it in the intersection causing the car to spin 180 degrees. Klaassen said he did not see the Arnold car. No injuries were reported.
On Aug. 19, Officer David Funk responded to a motor vehicle accident in the Memorial Park drive. Bradford Cody, Jr. of Hillsboro, driving a 1978 Chevy Bonanza pickup, and Michael C. Penner of Hillsboro, driving a 1986 Cadillac Brougham, were both parked at the edge of Memorial Drive. Both vehicles pulled away, and Cody slowed down then stopped. The Penner vehicle rear-ended Cody's vehicle. No injuries were reported.
On Aug. 20, Officer Chad Funk responded to a misdemeanor theft case at the Et Cetera Shop in Hillsboro. Wilbur Hanneman reported that a yellow-colored canvas trash container on a pipe frame with wheels was stolen from the back of the building near the alley of the Et Cetera Shop sometime between Aug. 9 and 10.
