Hillsboro represented at Sampler Festival
Independence's Riverside Park will be the setting for a sampling of what there is to see, do, hear, learn, buy, and taste in Kansas. And Hillsboro will be represented at the annual event.
More than 150 Kansas communities will be part of the Kansas Sampler Festival on May 3 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and May 4 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The Brothers & Sisters, a family Bluegrass Gospel group from Goessel, will be among the participants.
Exhibitors will tell about their historic sites, restaurants, art, specialty shops, recreational opportunities, natural landmarks, architectural stand-outs, events, and ethnic flavor with travel exhibits, entertainment, character portrayals, food booths, art demonstrations, and period costume.
Seven to nine thousand are expected to attend to discover possibilities for Kansas day trips.
The 14th annual event is a project of the Kansas Sampler Foundation and moves around the state every two years. This is the second year that the event has been in Independence. It will be in Newton in 2004 and 2005.
Admission to the festival is $5 for adults and $3 for children ages 7 to 14. For scheduling, a list of exhibitors, and directions, go to www.kansassampler festival.com or phone 1-800-882-3606.
