HILLSBORO: Tracksters take first at Conrad Nightingale

Girls place seventh out of 17 teams

Staff writer

The Hillsboro High School boys' track team brought home another first- place plaque at the Conrad Nightingale Invitational held last Friday in Halstead. Out of the 17 schools competing, the Hillsboro boys scored 113 points.

"The Nightingale Invitational has always been a very competitive track meet and one we look forward to each year," head coach Dennis Boldt said.

The girls placed seventh with the team taking only seven to compete.

"Our kids competed well, both the boys and the girls," Boldt said.

The meet featured preliminaries and then finals in the field events and the sprints.

"The meet marks the second half of the season, and it is a good indicator of where we are and where we need to be when regional comes around," Boldt said.

One of the highlights for the boys' team was the 4x400 meter relay of Tyler Peachey, Aaron Yoder, Daniel Yoder, and Caleb Marsh who set a new meet record with a time of 3:29.84.

Boldt said he feels good about where the team is right now and expects good competition at league and regional meets.

The team competed at the Peabody quad meet on Tuesday and will host the James Thomas Invitational at Reimer Field on the Tabor College campus. Starting time is 3 p.m.
