Hillsboro USD 410: Contracts renewed, teachers, staff get raises years ago

After 55 minutes of executive sessions Monday evening to discuss personnel, USD 410 board of education approved the following related to personnel issues:
— Contracts were renewed for business manager Jerry Hinerman and maintenance and transportation director Keith Goossen.
— Hourly classified staff members received a 2.15 percent increase in hourly pay and a defined health benefit contribution of $310 per month through Sept. 30 which will increase to $360 per month from Oct. 1 through the end of the annual contract.
— Salary classified staff members received a 1.7 percent increase and a defined health benefit contribution of $310 per month through Sept. 30 which will increase to $360 per month from Oct. 1 through the end of the annual contract.
— Administrative staff members were given a .98 percent increase in salary and a defined health benefit contribution of $690 per month through Sept. 30 which will increase to $795 per month from Oct. 1 through the end of the annual contract.
— Marion County Communities In Schools Director Linda Ogden and Charles Rempel, CIS prevention and data coordinator each received a three percent salary increase for a three-month period beginning July 1 and ending Sept. 30 per the request of the CIS board.
— The resignation of custodian Kay Carlson was accepted as was a new contract with Carlson to allow her to work and earn up to $20,000 which would make her eligible to receive KPERS.
— Huxman gave the board an update of the current court case against the school district regarding new construction and improvements at Tabor College.
— Activities director Max Heinrichs reported the school district may have to consider renting Bethel College facilities for football and track because of construction. Lights are being replaced at the Tabor College football field but may not be in place in time for the first few home football games.
