As the Hillsboro Mennonite Brethren Church's women's sewing circles have evolved since the 1950s, their mission has remained the same. That mission is to serve in whatever capacity they can to help missionaries and the church and to develop an organization that includes all women of the church.
The women of the Naomi Circle are a part of the Women's Missionary Service organization at the church.
Once a month 35-40 of the Naomi Circle ladies meet to quilt, to tie comforters, and to do other handwork, as well as fellowship with each other.
According to chairperson Celia Gross, some of the ladies meet every week to quilt.
The group has tied 18 comforters and will finish four or five quilts for this year.
On Feb. 10, approximately 20-25 ladies were present at their monthly meeting.
"We usually have more. But, because of the bad weather, some didn't come," Gross said. "Many arse scared of falling on the ice."
The quilters had a total of 925 years of experience of quilting.
