HMS boys play Marion, Hesston
The Hillsboro Middle School boys' basketball team played the Marion Warriors Monday at home.
The eighth grade team lost 42-25.
Leading scorer for the Trojans was Jacob Yoder with 15 points.
Other scorers were Grant Schneider and Daniel Roble with four points each, and Austin Hamm with two.
The team lost to Hesston Thursday at home, 40-20.
Yoder led the Trojans in scoring with seven points followed by Hamm and Roble with four points each, Serene with three, and Schneider with two.
Seventh grade
The seventh grade team easily defeated Marion, 36-18.
Leading scorers for the team were Clay Shewey with 13 points followed by Elliot Soyez with 12.
Other scorers were Daniel Jost with four, Thad Holmes and Isaac Leihy with three each, and Nolan Dirks with one.
In the Hesston game Thursday, Hillsboro lost 42-34.
Jost led the team in scoring with 12 points followed by Holmes with nine.
Other scorers were Soyez with six, Shewey with five, and Unruh with two.
C-team
In the C-team game, Hillsboro lost 21-19, to Marion at home.
Scoring for the team were Tyrel Blecha with five points, David Ratzloff and Andy Klassen with four points each, and Justin Wodke, Matthew Klenda, and Michael Klassen with two each.
The team competed Saturday in the Hesston C-team tournament.
Hillsboro won both games against Moundridge and Hesston.
They defeated Moundridge, 24-22.
Scoring for the team were Dustin Strunk with eight points, Nicholas Mueller and A. Klassen with six each, and Blecha and Klenda with two each.
In the second game, Hillsboro defeated Hesston, 27-18.
Blecha led the team in scoring with 12 points followed by A. Klassen with five, Ratzloff and Strunk with three each, and Mueller and Klenda with two each.
In the game against Hesston last Thursday, the team lost 50-9.
Scoring for the Trojans were Heyen with five points followed by Klenda with three and Leihy with one.
The teams will travel to Sterling for a 4:30 p.m. game today.
