HMS girls basketball team finishes fourth
The Hillsboro Middle School girls' basketball team took fourth Feb. 7 at Lindsborg in the east division of the MCAA tournament.
In the 27-25 loss to Wichita Collegiate, Kassi Luthi was the leading scorer with 12 points. Sarah Heidel had seven points; Aby Humber, three; Cassie Kroeker, two; and Jet Skiles, one.
On Feb. 5, the team lost 28-11 to Smoky Valley. Shelby Koons, Kroeker, and Luthi each scored three points, and Candace Ediger and Humber scored one point each.
On Feb. 5 the team defeated Marion 34-18. Scorers included Luthi with 11 points; Humber, nine; Heidel, eight; Kroeker, four; and Koons, two.
Girls are 2-0 at Hesston
Feb. 3 at Hesston, the eighth grade team lost 38-24. Scorers included Luthi with seven points; Heidel, six; Kroeker, four; Humber, three; and Ediger and Tiffany Rooker, two points each.
The seventh grade team won 41-23. Candace Weinbrenner and Dakota Kaufman each scored 10 points. Other scorers were Natasha Hollingshead, six points; Taryn Mayfield, five points; Briana Loewen and Samantha Soyez, four points each; and Sara Unruh, two points.
The C-team won 27-25. Scorers included Hollingshead, eight points; Loewen, seven; Heather Goldsby and April Young, four points each; and Mayfield and Dianne Sanders, two points each.
