HMS girls defeat Marion

The Hillsboro Middle School girls' basketball teams traveled to Marion Monday to compete against the Marion Warriors.

The eighth grade team won 37-27.

Audrey Weinbrenner led the Trojans scoring 10 points followed by Samantha Heinrichs with nine points.

Other scorers included Amy Neufeld and Chelsea Bebermeyer with four points each, Amanda Faber and Amanda Bina with three, Anna Woelk with two, and Courtney Fast with one.

In Thursday's game against the Hesston Swathers in Hesston, the team lost in double overtime, 32-28.

Leading scorer for the Trojans was Faber with 12 points.

Other scorers were Heinrichs and Weinbrenner with six points each, and Bebermeyer and Bina with two each.

The team is now 5-2 for the season.

Seventh grade

The seventh grade team defeated the Marion Warriors on Monday in Marion, 23-17.

Kassidi Luthi led the team with nine points.

Other scorers were Jet Skiles and Candace Ediger with four points each, Tiffany Rooker with three, and Sarah Heidel with two.

Last Thursday, the team lost to Hesston, 29-17, at Hesston.

Leading scorer was Heidel with 10 points.

Other scorers were Skiles, Luthi, and Kroeker with two points each, and Rooker with one.

The team's record is now 2-5.

C-team

The Hillsboro Middle School C-team defeated Marion, 29-13, Monday in Marion.

Scoring for the Trojans were Corissa Bartel with six points, Rachelle Goldsby with five, April Young, Fast, and Woelk with four each, Greta Wiebe, Amber King, and Jessica Elliot with two each.

Last Thursday, the team was defeated by Hesston 34-7 at Hesston.

Goldsby scored three points, Wiebe had two, and King and Ens had one each.

Their record is 2-6.

The teams will host Sterling today starting at 4:30 p.m.
