HMS netters defeat Sterling

All three Hillsboro Middle School volleyball teams came home with victories last Thursday against the Sterling Black Bears in Sterling.

The eighth grade team won 25-17, 25-16.

"All 12 players contributed to the win," head coach Stephanie Sinclair said. "Our serving was 93 percent good, which is outstanding."

Scoring for the Trojans were Amy Neufeld with nine points followed by Bobbi Jo Carlson with eight. Jessica Klose scored five points, Audrey Weinbrenner had four, Amanda Bina had three, Suzy Lindsay and Amber Loewen had two each, and Jandi Nikkel had one.

The team's record is 2-0.

In the seventh grade match, Hillsboro won, winning the first game, 25-13, losing the second, 25-18, and winning the third, 16-14.

Scoring for the team were Candace Ediger with 10 points, Aby Humber with six, Jet Skiles with four, Cassie Kroeker and Sara Jones with three each, Sarah Heidel with two, and Jessica Elliott, Shelby Koons, Clara Ens, and Kassidi Luthi, all with one point each.

Their record is 2-0.

The mixed team won 25-8, 25-18.

"Stephanie Abbott, Chelsea Bebermeyer and Amber King did a great job serving for us," Sinclair said.

Scoring for the team were Abbott with 13 points, Bebermeyer and King had seven points each, Greta Wiebe had three, Veronica Swickard had two, and Rachelle Goldsby, Corissa Bartel, and Tessa Simpson had one point each.

Their record is now 3-0.

The teams will host the Haven Wildcats today at 4:30 p.m.
