HMS volleyball team defeats Halstead
The Hillsboro Middle School eighth grade volleyball team remains undefeated after its win against Halstead last Thursday at Halstead. Hillsboro won 25-10, 25-7.
The team was 94 percent accurate in serving.
Scoring for the team were Amy Neufeld and Jenesa Klose with eight points each; followed by Jessica Klose, who had seven points; Bobbi Jo Carlson, six; Amanda Faber, four; and Amanda Bina and Jandi Nikkel, two points each.
The team is now 5-0 for the season.
The seventh graders lost to Halstead. They won the first game 25-18, but lost the next two, 25-15, 15-9.
Scoring for the Trojans were Jet Skiles with seven points, Candace Ediger with six, Jessy Elliott with five, Aby Humber with four, Cassie Kroeker with three, Sarah Heidel with two, and Shelby Koons and Kassidi Luthi with one each.
The team's record is 3-2.
In the first game of the mixed team match, Hillsboro won, 25-11, 25-19.
Leading scorer was Corissa Bartel with 10 points. Jayme Claassen and Rachelle Goldsby had six points each, Amber King had five, Samantha Heinrichs and Courtney Fast had three each, and Chelsea Bebermeyer had two.
In the second game, Hillsboro won, 25-7, 25-5.
Scoring for the team were Greta Wiebe with eight points, Kelsey Unruh with six, Stephanie Abbott with five, Veronica Swickard with four, Francie Penner and Brittany Davis with three each, and Anna Woelk and Becky Steketee with two each.
The teams will play Wichita Collegiate today at 4:30 p.m. in Wichita.
