HMS volleyball teams are 3-0
The Hillsboro Middle School volleyball teams won three matches against Reno Valley Sept. 5 at Reno Valley.
The eighth grade won 15-13, 3-15, and 17-15.
"The eighth grade team played scrappy to pull off the win," said Coach Stephanie Sinclair. "We will continue working on getting more aggressive with our hitting."
Scoring for the eighth grade team were JuliAnne Chisholm with 11 points; Tina Frick, nine; Diedre Funk, five; Andrea Jost and Megan Peachey, four each; and Kelli Janzen and Jessica Heidel, one each.
The seventh grade team won 11-5, 15-4, and 15-8.
"The seventh graders found out that making serves is the key to winning," Sinclair said. "Our net play struggled but will come with more experience."
Seventh grade scorers were Greta Wiebe and Audrey Weinbrenner with eight points each; Jandi Nikkel, seven; Amanda Bina and Amanda Faber, four each; Amy Neufeld, Jenesa Klose, Stephanie Abbott, two points each; Amber Loewen, Jessica Klose, Suzy Lindsay, and Jayme Claassen, one each.
The mixed team won 7-15, 15-3, and 15-7. Rachelle Goldsby scored 10 points; Marissa Nightingale, eight; Courtney Fast, five; Megan McCarty, four; Melissa Hiebert and Amber King, two each; and Sierra Langley, Tessa Simpson, and Megan Jost, one each.
The middle school volleyball teams will play Sterling at home today. Game time is 4:30 p.m.
