HPD: Gunshot wound determined to be accidental
Officers were called to Hillsboro Community Medical Center Aug. 17, regarding a reported gunshot wound. The discharge was accidental and had occurred in Reno County.
Aug. 12: A motorist received assistance at U.S.-56 and Ash Street. Suspicious activity was checked downtown.
Aug. 13: Assistance was provided to a motorist at U.S.-56 and Elm Street. An individual was fingerprinted for employment purposes. A camper hook-up was provided. Suspicious activity was checked in the 100 block of North Main Street. An abandoned vehicle was checked.
Aug. 14: SRS received assistance with an investigation. A missing vehicle complaint was determined to be an abandoned vehicle that was towed.
Aug. 15: Assistance was provided in rounding up cattle that were out on U.S.-56. An individual was fingerprinted for employment purposes. Damage that occurred in Newton was reported by individuals. An individual was arrested on outstanding warrants in the 200 block of South Main Street.
Aug. 16: A domestic disturbance in the 100 block of South Ash Street was reported. A verbal confrontation between a male and his girlfriend was reported.
Aug. 17: McPherson County Sheriff's Department received assistance with an investigation. Welfare checks were conducted in the 100 block of East Grand Street and the 300 block of South Birch Street. A parking complaint was made in the 300 block of South Washington Street.
Aug. 18: A commercial alarm was activated in the 900 block of East D Street. A fire alarm was activated in the 400 block of South Adams Street. Assistance was provided to residents in the 700 block of South Washington Street who were without electricity. Marion County Sheriff's Department received assistance with a vehicle accident and underage drinking complaint.
Aug. 19: A motorist received assistance in the 500 block of East D Street. Two child custody disputes were investigated in the 500 block of East Grand Street and the 200 block of North Cedar Street.
Aug. 20: A one-year-old child was taken into protective custody in the 200 block of North Jefferson Street after the child's mother had a physical confrontation with officers and was transported to a mental health facility. A dog complaint was filed in the 300 block of North Birch Street. SRS received assistance with an investigation. Assistance with an investigation was provided to a railroad agent.
Aug. 21: An officer participated in an independent study program at Hillsboro High School. A noise complaint was filed in the 200 block of West Grand Street. An individual received assistance in the 700 block of South Washington Street during an electrical outage.
Aug. 22: SRS received assistance. An individual reported being assaulted by his ex-wife during a child custody exchange. A camper hook-up was provided. A suspicious person was checked.
Thursday: A report was made of a pending child custody dispute. An electric pole fire was reported in the 500 block of South Lincoln Street. A minor vehicle accident occurred in the 500 block of East D. Street. SRS received assistance.
Friday: A motorist with a medical problem received assistance. A traffic obstruction was removed in the 400 block of West Grand Street.
Saturday: The K-9 unit performed a vehicle search. A child custody dispute was reported in the 200 block of North Jefferson Street.
