Irene Frantz

Irene Lucille Frantz, 79, of Hillsboro died Dec. 27, 2002, at Parkside Homes in Hillsboro.

Born on Nov. 3, 1923, in Tampa, she was the daughter of David and Mollie (Schwenner) Senner.

She was raised on the family farm in Tampa and attended Hutchens School, graduating from the eighth grade.

On June 28, 1936, she was baptized at the Tampa Mennonite Brethren Church in Tampa by Rev. John Nickel.

On Nov. 23, 1941, she married John B. Frantz at Durham. He died in 1998. They farmed in the Tampa area, moving to Hillsboro in 1959.

She was a certified med-aid charge nurse at Parkside Homes for the last 11 years and worked in nursing for 35 years. She was a member of Hillsboro Mennonite Brethren Church.

Survivors include son, Terry and wife Diane Frantz of Phillipsburg; daughter, Sheryl and husband Larry Cole of Phillipsburg; brother, Larry Senner of Abilene; sisters, Martha Frantz and Ida Frantz, both of Hillsboro, Anna Mae Goertz of Durham, Jeanette Schimming of Herington; and five grandchildren.

Services were held Monday at Hillsboro Mennonite Brethren Church with Pastor Mike Frantz and Pastor Clint Seibel officiating. Burial was at Hillsboro Mennonite Brethren Cemetery in Hillsboro.

Musicians were Vern Frantz and Loren Frantz, vocalists, and LeOra Grunau, organist.

Casket bearers were Leonard Frantz, Dennis Frantz, Jim Ratzlaff, Larry Senner, Dylan Patterson, and Jim Schimming.
