Ishida named KCAC player of the week

IRicky Ishida, Tabor College, 5'11, 210, sophomore, quarterback from Shafter, Calif., was named KCAC offensive player of the week.

In a 43-42 double-overtime win Saturday at Bethel College, Ishida completed 14-34 passes for 190 yards and three touchdowns with one interception. He also carried for 10 yards for 53 yards and three touchdowns.

Ishida had a pass completion for a two-point PAT which won the game in the second overtime. He had six touchdowns with 243 yards of total offense.

Tabor is 8-0 over and 7-0 in the KCAC.

JAM basketball begins Dec. 4

JAM basketball for young people in first through sixth grade begins at 9 a.m. Dec. 4. Deadline for registering to participate is Nov. 15. Forms are available in school offices and Hillsboro City Hall.

Hillsboro High School basketball coach Darrel Knoll is in charge of the program. His staff will include members of local coaching staffs along with Tabor and high school players. Each session will stress fundamentals and games also will be played.

Wrestling club to meet Tuesday

Hillsboro Wrestling Club, open to young people five through 16, is starting is 11th year with an information meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 9, in Hillsboro High School technology lecture hall.

The main practice night is Monday and practices will begin Nov. 15. Wrestlers between the ages of five through eight will practice from 6:15 to 7 p.m. and wrestlers nine and older will practice from 7:05 to 8:30 p.m. After the first three weeks, practices will be divided in novice and competitive divisions.

Coaches are Corey Burton, Scott O'Hare, Shawn Edwards, and Matt Carroll, all USA Bronze Level Certified coaches.
