James Johnston
James Leroy Johnston, 87, of Marion, died July 11, 2007.
Born Dec. 8, 1919, at Marion, he was the son of the late Braden Clair Johnston and Anna Hill Smith Johnston.
He is survived by his wife, Gladys Marie Strahl Johnston of St. Luke Living Center, Marion; stepsister, Nancy Seed of Santa Barbara, Calif.; and two sons, James Braden Johnston and wife Katherine of Blacksburg, Va., and Korbin Lee Johnston and wife Jane of Lexington, S.C. He also is survived by four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Regina Sue Johnston.
Jim lived in Peabody for many years before retiring and returning to Marion. He worked for Southwestern Bell in Wichita.
He was a survivor of polio and still was able to live his life to the fullest. He will be remembered for his love of family and ability to fix anything.
The family wishes to give thanks to the nurses and staff at St. Luke Hospital and Living Center for their attention and support.
At his request, his immediate family will have a private burial at Prairie Lawn Cemetery at Peabody.
