James O. Faul
James O. Faul, 74, of Newton, died Feb. 7, 2005, at his home.
Born May 17, 1930, in Minneapolis, Minn., he was the son of Harry and Anna (Klaassen) Faul. On Sept. 6, 1958, he married Marlene Cole in Hanley Falls, Minn.
He graduated with a bachelor's of arts degree from Augsburg College in Minneapolis, Minn., and a master's of arts degree from the University of Minnesota. He also attended Goshen Biblical Seminary for one year.
He was a music teacher and piano tuner, teaching in several schools in Minnesota. In Kansas, he taught at Bethel College, Walton High School, Newton Unified School District, Peabody-Burns Public Schools, and Hillsboro Public Schools.
He also was a church choir music director for many area churches.
He was a member of Wichita Area V-8 Club, Heartland Cougar Club of Wichita, Scandinavian Society of Wichita, and Kansas Association for Family and Community Education. He also was a member of Bethel College Mennonite Church, serving on chancel choir, as an usher, and as a member of the music committee.
He was preceded in death by his parents and stepmother, Sarah (Fast) Faul.
Survivors include his wife of North Newton; daughters, Sharon and Steve Morris of Hutchinson and Mary Sue Faul of San Antonio, Texas; and three grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 10, at the home, 3000 Wildwood Way, North Newton.
Burial will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Gnadenau Cemetery, rural Hillsboro.
The memorial will be at 4 p.m. Friday at Bethel College Mennonite Church in North Newton, with Pastor Norma J. Johnson officiating.
Memorials have been established with Bethel College Mennonite Church for music or Augsburg College, Minneapolis, Minn.
