John H. Ratzlaff
John H. Ratzlaff, 86, of Goessel, died Dec. 28, 2002, at Newton Medical Center in Newton.
Born Feb. 18, 1916, in rural Goessel, he was the son of John J. and Mary (Enns) Ratzlaff.
On March 15, 1941, he married Hilda Quiring. She died on Sept. 19, 1999.
He was a mechanic and manufacturer. He was a member of Alexanderwohl Church and a charter member of Goessel Lions Club. A lifetime Goessel area resident, he served on the city council and was the former owner of Ratzlaff Draperies and Ratzlaff Garage.
He was preceded in death by his wife and brothers, Arlo and Orick.
Survivors include son, James N. Ratzlaff of Old Hickory, Tenn.; daughters, Sheryl Dunavan of Cape Girardeau, Mo., and Gayle Voth of Goessel; brothers, Wilbur Ratzlaff and Leroy Ratzlaff of Goessel; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services were held Jan. 1 at Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church in rural Goessel with Rev. James Dunn, Rev. Mark Wiens, and Nita Wilson officiating. Burial was at Alexanderwohl Cemetery.
Memorials have been established with Alexanderwohl Church and Bethesda Home of Goessel.
