John Herdt
John Walter Herdt, 82, Roeland Park, died July 14, 2008. He was born Oct. 2, 1925, at Russell.
He was employed in the telecommunications industry for 40 years before retiring in 1983. He had lived in Sun Lakes, Ariz., since 1995.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Jewell; and daughter, Marilyn "Kay" Wolfe.
Survivors include his wife, Peggy; children, Bud Herdt, Arlene Puhr, Kathy Davis, Karen Orf, Chip Harris, Nancy Sue DiSisto, and Chris Harris; siblings, LeRoy Herdt, Irene Hurst, Helen Jordan, Robert Herdt, George Herdt, and Ruth Penner; 16 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
A Masonic service will be conducted at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, followed by visitation at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the chapel. Inurnment will follow at Johnson County Memorial Gardens.
Memorial contributions may be made to the John W. Herdt Scholarship Fund at the Sun Lakes Lions Club or the Shriner's Children's Hospitals in care of Abdallah Shrine, 5300 Metcalf, Overland Park 66202.
