Joyful Noise day-care to hold benefit program
Musical entertainment and an ice cream social will be the focal points for the second-annual Joyful Noise Community Child Care fundraiser.
The fundraiser is set for Sunday, July 7, at 6:30 p.m. on the Goessel Mennonite Church lawn (109 S. Church).
The "Wedel Brothers Quartet," "Brothers and Sisters," and "Tabor Church Ladies Trio" are the musical groups scheduled to perform for the event. Individuals are asked to bring their own lawn chairs.
Since its beginnings two years ago, Joyful Noise has relied on donations from the community and local churches, said Verda Wedel, board member of the day-care center.
The center can't survive on child-care fees alone, said Sandi Thompson, director of Joyful Noise. Thompson has been with the center since April of 2001.
Joyful Noise offers programs for toddlers through kindergartners year-round. During the school year, it operates an after-school program for children in grades kindergarten through sixth grade at the Goessel Elementary School. In the summertime, the center offers programs for those older children at the Joyful Noise building.
About 30 children from the area are participating in Joyful Noise programs this summer, Thompson said. The center has four other staff members.
