Junior high/high school principal Holmes resigns
Goessel Junior/Senior High School principal Stuart Holmes has announced his resignation.
The resignation will take affect at the end of his contract on June 30, Holmes said Tuesday. He's been principal of GJHS and GHS for three years.
There are no "hidden secrets" to his resignation, Holmes said — he's just ready to relinquish the principal role.
Holmes said that doesn't have the enthusiasm for being a principal that he expects from himself. He misses being a teacher and coach and the interaction with students that comes from those roles, he said.
Holmes has been in the education field for 19 years, he said. Goessel was his first time being principal. Before that, he taught social studies and coached in several different schools, including Halstead and Coldwater.
He has nothing but praise for Goessel schools.
"Goessel has an excellent school system," Holmes said.
He doesn't know what lies ahead, although he's open to options both inside and outside of education. Holmes enjoys central Kansas.
But no matter what comes next, Holmes wants to continue to help children, he said.
