Kansas' largest arts and crafts fair prepares for 35th year years ago
The Hillsboro Arts & Crafts Fair will be 35 years old this September and still going strong.
Artists and craftsmen from all over the country vie for space to show their wares to the almost 50,000 people that flood the streets of Hillsboro the third Saturday in September every year. The Arts & Crafts Association carefully screens all applicants and accepts approximately 400 artists to participate in what has been labeled The Midwestern Creative Art Market.
The year's show will feature approximately 378 artists and craftsmen with almost 100 new exhibitors. The fair will have everything from original paintings and hand-crafted furniture, mouth-blown glass, and metal etching to appliquéd clothing, dried flower arrangements, and seasonal wood crafts. There is something for everyone and so many new and unexpected things every year that it's always worth the day.
Besides the amazing display of arts, the fair also features traditional German favorites such as zwiebach, bierrocks, and new year cookies, and for visitors' convenience, there are public parking and shuttle rides to the fair area. It's a day not to miss and great fun for all.
The fair is sponsored by the Hillsboro Arts & Crafts Association.
