Kathleen Hiebert
Kathleen Hiebert, 93, of San Jose, Calif., died April 16, 2002.
Born in Oklahoma in 1909, the oldest daughter of John R. and Helena Jost, she grew up on a farm in Kansas. She met Daniel Hiebert while attending Tabor College, and they were married in 1930. They lived in Reedley and Tulare, Calif., before moving to Fresno. She moved to San Jose in 1995.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Fresno and Lincoln Glen Mennonite Church in San Jose. She was involved in Evangel Home in Fresno, where she was instrumental in the building of a new facility dedicated to disadvantaged women.
She was preceded in death by her husband, infant daughter Mary Joyce, son James, and grandson Daniel Rafferty.
Survivors include daughters, Joanne Rafferty, Eldora Warkentin (John), Jeanette Rogers (Ralph); nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Margaret Goentzel of Fairview, Okla, Edna Janzen of Southern California, Ellen Ewy (Ray) of Parlier, Calif., Melinda Smith of Pennsylvania; and brother, Harold Jost (Marie) of Hillsboro.
A memorial service was held April 23 at Lincoln Glen Church in San Jose. Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. April 27 at Belmont Memorial Cemetery in Fresno, Calif.
