Klaassen, Tippin wedding
Jenae Klaassen of Sedgwick and Phillip Tippin of Elbing were married July 16, 2003, at First Baptist Church in Wichita. Pastor David Reimer of Grace Community Church in Newton officiated the double-ring ceremony.
The bride is the granddaughter of the late Paul and Anna Duesing of Powhattan and the late Harry and Martha Klaassen of Newton. Step-grandmother is Helen Klaassen of Newton.
The groom is the grandson of Ruth Vander Wilt of Hillsboro and the late Orval Vander Wilt and Robert and Lorenne Tippin of Wichita and the late Euleta Tippin.
The bride was escorted by her father. She wore an ivory satin A-line gown with off-shoulder straps. The asymmetric overlapping gathered bodice was embellished with Swarovski crystals and the gown had a chapel-length train. The elbow-length, jewel-edged veil was held by a crystal tiara.
Maid of honor was Kaylene Klassen of DeKalb, Ill. Bridematrons were Brenda DeWeese of DeKalb, Deborah Lammers of Ypsilanti, Mich., and Sarah Ekeland of McPherson. Bridesmaids were Laurel Tippin of Elbing and Emily Fisher of Burrton. Personal attendant was Elizabeth Messamer of Olathe.
Best man was John Dyck of West Cliff, Colo. Groomsmen were John Buerger of Dallas, Eric Tippin of Elbing, Manuel Maier of Germany, Michael Funk of North Newton, and Toby Friesen of Siloam Springs, Ark.
Junior bridesmaid was Katelyn DeWeese of DeKalb and flower girls were Lauryn DeWeese of DeKalb and Meghan Lammers of Ypsilanti.
Musicians were Anne Davis of Sedgwick, piano; Marilyn Reimer of Newton, piano; John Carper of Newton, cello; Amanda Friesen of Newton, flute; Ellen Buerger of Dallas, vocal and piano. Laurel Tippin of Elbing, vocalist, was accompanied by Eric Tippin of Elbing, Toby Friesen of Siloam Springs and Jim Horning of Newton.
Guest book attendants were Juan Cristobal Araoz of Bolivia and Amanda DeMoss of Newton. Programs were handed out by Rachel Tippin of Elbing and Carrie Tippin of Goessel.
Groomsmen served as ushers.
Gift carriers were Caleb DeWeese and his father, Steve DeWeese of DeKalb, and Jacob Lammers and his father, Peter Lammers of Ypsilanti.
A reception was held at the Hotel and Old Town Conference Center in Wichita. Hosting were Arnie and Joyce McCloud of Newton and parents of the bride and groom. Music was provided by the Rosewood Winds Trio, consisting of Amanda Friesen of Newton, Kristin Kliewer of Hillsboro, and Valerie Klaassen of Whitewater; and by Kelly Smith of Newton and Mark and Becky Olsen of Elbing.
Wedding coordinator was Kathy Beverlin of Newton and reception coordinator was Sheila Schmidt of Newton. Host and hostess of the hospitality room were Tim and Shardelle Dirks of Sedgwick.
The bride is a 2002 graduate of Berean Academy in Elbing. She attended Mid-America Nazarene in Olathe and Wichita State University. She will start the dental hygiene program at WSU this fall and is employed by Tippin Dental Group in Newton.
The groom is a 2002 graduate of Berean Academy in Elbing. He attended the University of Kansas and Pittsburg State University and is attending Wichita State University. He is employed by First Bank of Newton.
A July 15 rehearsal dinner at Burns Café was hosted by the groom's parents.
The couple took a wedding trip to Colorado and have made their home in Wichita.
