Klepper, Sneed named 'Teachers of promise

Two students have been named "Teachers of Promise" at Tabor College, according to Dr. Donna Bagley, assistant professor of education and chair of the education department.

Katherine Klepper, Sabetha, and Stacy Sneed, Haviland, were chosen by the education department faculty based upon classroom performance, commitment to teacher preparation, Christian character and involvement in the larger Tabor community.

Klepper, a senior majoring in elementary education, and Sneed, a senior majoring in secondary mathematics education, will represent Tabor at the annual state education awards banquet where the Kansas Teacher of the Year will be announced. The banquet will take place Nov. 16 in Wichita.

The students will also participate in a workshop led by exemplary Kansas teachers, including Tracy Taylor Callard, 2002 Kansas Teacher of the Year and one of the four finalists for National Teacher of the Year who spoke on the Tabor campus in January.

The event is sponsored by the Kansas Foundation for Excellence in Education, the Kansas State Department of Education and Bank of America.
