You'd have to go back all the way to Dec. 2, 2004, to find the last time the Lady Bluejays dropped a regular-season conference game.

Since then, Tabor's won 41 straight regular season conference games, not to mention winning 13 straight games this season.

The Bluejays were coming off escaping a 75-67 scare in Hillsboro Thursday against Southwestern — the team who last dealt Tabor a loss.

For the first half Saturday in Hillsboro against the Kansas Wesleyan Lady Coyotes, the Bluejays played about as terrible as any team coach Rusty Allen has had during six successful years at Tabor.

But the Bluejays, (14-1, 6-0 KCAC) paced by a season-game-high 20 points, including a scalding 4-for-9 from three-point range, came alive the second half to outlast the Coyotes (5-11, 1-5 KCAC), 63-52.

"That might have been the roughest start in the history of basketball," a relieved Allen said.

"I'm not sure we were really prepared emotionally when the game got started."

But in the second half, the Bluejays shot 53 percent from the field and 56 percent from long range.

Wesleyan was able to close the gap to 51-44 with just over 3:00 left, but Tabor was able to keep extending its lead, shooting a perfect 8-for-8 at the line from then on and 10-of-10 the second half.

"A win is a win at this point," Allen said. "We keep winning we'll be playing in the national tournament."

First, Tabor tips off at 6 p.m. Thursday in Wichita, before a 5 p.m. Saturday showdown at home against second-place Sterling College.
