Lady Jays success continuing to build
Tabor softball team wins four of five at Sterling Tournament
Try to keep in mind that the Lady Bluejays have had their share of shortcomings in the past.
Ever since coming into existence as a softball team four years ago, Tabor has yet to have a winning season.
That was then, this is now.
And now there is a strong possibility that history is going to change.
Enter first year coach Jim Moore, who seems to have brought a new attitude to the Bluejays.
The Bluejays enjoyed another progressive weekend Friday and Saturday, finishing 4-1 at the Sterling Tournament to lift their record to 13-8 on the year.
Tabor's weekend began with an 11-3 rout of the Hesston Lady Larks behind Jennie Ewertt's pitching.
The Bluejay offense put out a good display, racking up 11 hits.
Tabor concluded its Friday outlasting Oklahoma Wesleyan, 6-3 on a one-hitter by pitcher Johannah Love and picking up four hits.
Saturday got under way with another rematch with the Larks, this time with Priscilla Mace starting on the mound for the Bluejays.
The Bluejays' defense floundered, committing four errors, but Tabor still hung on, 5-4.
Already with a pair of victories over hosting Sterling Lady Warriors under their belt, the third time was not a charm for the Bluejays, who tumbled, 9-0.
The Warriors roughed up Love, who took the defeat.
The Bluejays were able to rebound from the Warriors' defeat in the finale against Hillsdale Baptist, 6-2.
Tabor continues its brutal road stand this weekend, traveling to Kansas City for the Avila Tournament before traveling Monday to Ottawa for a doubleheader against the Lady Braves.
The Bluejays then travel Wednesday to Salina before returning to Hillsboro April 5 for a pair against St. Mary.
