A massive first half was all it took to send Wichita Collegiate home winless.

The Lady Trojans outscored their Collegiate counterparts 26-7 in the first half of Friday night's game against league rival Collegiate. The game was never a contest, and Hillsboro won easily 50-31.

Hillsboro came out ready to roll in the first quarter, showing intensity from the very first possession. They held Collegiate to just five points during the quarter, while the Trojans scored 15.

Collegiate only managed to score one more basket in the second quarter, sending the teams to halftime with Hillsboro holding a 19-point lead.

Hillsboro's senior experience was evident during the game as the team picked off pass after pass. Sara Thiessen had four steals, and Jenna Jost and Jill Hein each had three.

Going into the third quarter, the Trojans kept up the pressure, outscoring Collegiate 13-7 in the quarter. It didn't seem to take much effort for Hillsboro to coast to the 50-31 win.

"I thought we played great defense," said Head Coach Becky Carlson. "We took good shots, we forced a lot of turnovers."

The Lady Trojans resume their schedule on Jan. 4 at Halstead.
