Lady Trojans tame Lions with two blowouts

Sports reporter

Improving to 3-1 on the season April 4, the Hillsboro High School softball team dominated the Lyons Lions, 15-2 and 11-3.

"The girls came out eager to score runs," head coach Steph Sinclair said.

The Lady Trojans did just that, jumping all over Lyons in the first inning with six runs. Hillsboro recorded just two hits, but used six walks to gain the early lead.

Three more hits and four runs later, the Lady Trojans had a 10-2 lead after just two innings.

Hillsboro would add just two more hits, but took advantage of walks and errors by the Lions to score five more times and claim the blowout victory.

Laura Lindsay threw a complete game, one-hitter in the victory, and Amanda Bina highlighted the offense with a triple in her first at bat from the left side of the plate this season.

Lindsay helped HHS get off to another fast start in game two, knocking in the first run with a double. The Lady Trojans scored three more runs in the inning without a hit, and led 4-1 after one.

Lindsay would add a triple and a single to complete her 3-4 game. Jessica Klose added a double, and Rachelle Goldsby chipped in with a triple, as the Lady Trojans completed the sweep.

"We want to keep this going," Sinclair said.
