Lady Warriors suffer two losses

Peabody-Burns High School girls' basketball team lost two league games this past week.
Hutch Trinity defeated PBHS Feb. 7, 51-40, and Ell-Saline knocked off the Lady Warriors Friday, 47-32. Remington and Bennington are on the schedule this week for PBHS.
Racquel Castillo put the PBHS squad on the board early against Trinity with a three-pointer. Jessi Hilliard added a free throw and that was all the offense from the team, as they were outscored, 13-4.
PBHS improved its scoring in the second quarter. Elaina Newell had two three-pointers and a free throw. Hilliard added two baskets and Traci Windsor put in two free throws. The Lady Celtics added 13 points in the quarter, to keep the lead, 26-17.
Perimeter shooting helped the Lady Warriors in the third period. The team pulled to within five at the three-minute mark on a three-pointer from Newell. Windsor hit two more three-pointers and Hilliard added seven points, as PBHS trailed 40-33.
Trinity held PBHS to seven in the fourth quarter. Hilliard had five points and Rebecca Morris had a basket, but the Lady Warriors fell, 51-40.

Ell-Saline
The Ell-Saline defense held the Lady Warriors scoreless Friday until the two minute mark of the first quarter. Hilliard sank two free throws and a basket to give the Lady Warriors four points at the end of the period, as the Cardinals led, 13-4.
PBHS defense held the Cardinals to six in the second quarter. Hilliard was all the offense for the Lady Warriors with six free throws and a basket. PBHS trailed at halftime, 17-12.
PBHS was outscored 30-20 in the second half. Hilliard remained the bulk of the offense with 11 points. Windsor had five points, and Tabitha O'Neal and Jessica Gillet each added a basket.
PBHS was defeated, 47-32.
