Leander Lohrenz
Leander "Lee" John Lohrenz, 78, Yuma, Ariz., died Feb. 20, 2007.
Born June 26, 1928, near Aulne, he was the son of Jacob and Mary (Seibel) Lohrenz.
He graduated from Hillsboro High School. He attended Tabor College, taught in a one-room country school for two years, then was drafted into the U.S. Army. After active duty, he graduated from Wichita State University. He later earned a master's degree and Ph.D. in psychology from the University of Kansas at Lawrence.
After completing his education, he worked at the VA Hospital in Leavenworth and the Menninger Foundation in Topeka. He entered private practice in 1976 in both Overland Park and Leavenworth. He served as president of the Kansas Psychological Association and the Kansas Association of Professional Psychologists.
On Sept. 2, 1957, he married Marguerite Hardesty.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Paul; and three sisters, Zelma Thiessen, Luella Wohlgemuth, and Leona Ginn.
Survivors include his wife, Marguerite of Yuma, Ariz.; children, Lee Ann Lohrenz of Santa Ana, Calif., Mark Lohrenz of Lawrence, and Lori and Earl Teague of Keller, Texas; stepsister, Arlene Rempel of Peabody; and five grandchildren.
Funeral services were held March 2 at Wyandotte United Methodist Church, Kansas City.
Burial was in Leavenworth National Cemetery.
