Legion activates new program

Hillsboro American Legion Post 366 has activated a "Heroes to Hometowns" program.

The mission of the program is to facilitate the coming home of wounded service members and their families by calling on resources available in the community.

Whether it includes finding jobs for the soldier and his or her spouse, helping find a home, fixing a leaky faucet, rent money, getting an automobile, running errands, or child care, the community will be there for them.

The American Legion Post 366 hero transition team is being formed to respond quickly to real-time emergencies faced by the newly returned service member and their family. It will use the talents and resources of many citizens and businesses in Hillsboro as needed to ensure soldiers and their families from this area that were injured serving our country will be welcomed home and given every opportunity to assume a happy and prosperous life here.
