Leo Club volunteers at AIDS Walk
Ten Hillsboro Leo Club members traveled to Wichita on Saturday, Aug. 17, to participate in the eighth annual AIDS Walk, sponsored by the Postive Directions.
The group of students helped set up barricades and cheer on walkers in the event, said Tonja Wienck, counselor at Hillsboro Middle School. They also participated in the festivities after the walk, including food and music, and they got the chance to talk to some of the participants.
Positive Directions is a Wichita-based organization that provides resources for those who are HIV-positive or have AIDS or AIDS-related diseases. The organization has raised over $42,000 this year, Wienck said.
