Let's do better
To the Editor:
The all-school reunion was a big disappointment to alumni in 2005.
The price of the ticket was too much for just a meal. No decorations, no program preparation, no entertainment, no memories shared.
Seating designations were so bad. Classmates could not gather together and sit at the same table. We didn't even sing the school song together.
No pictures were offered.
To recover the ground lost this year, it is going to take effort and detailed planning (if you wish to include the All-School Reunion in the Family Festival for 2006).
Some suggestions:
1. Reserve table places for tickets sold to class by year (ie 1950).
2. Treat five year milestone classes to the spotlight.
3. Provide a designated place (school room or elsewhere) for afternoon visiting of "milestone classes."
4. Ask each "such class" to participate in the evening program (summary of class achievements — school plays, music, athletic achievements, etc.; share stories and memories).
5. Arrange for a photographer from one of the papers to take pictures of the five-year milestone classes at designated times in the afternoon (where classes are meeting for visitation).
Sincerely,
Gerry (Hornbaker) Grentz
