Letting the cat out

In a small town, news travels fast. Few things can be kept a secret.

But in my case, I don't think news has been traveling fast enough. So that's why I'm writing this: to make the news travel at the speed of light.

I have submitted my resignation to Hoch Publishing. Thursday, Aug. 28, will be my last day working for the Hillsboro Star-Journal.

Why am I telling you this? Because you, the readers, deserve to know. And I didn't want to spring it on you in my last issue, leaving your head spinning.

So now you know.

Eric Clark will be coming over from the Marion County Record to fill my seat once I'm gone. I don't think he needs any introduction — he's a Hillsboro native, HHS graduate, and Tabor graduate. I'm sure you know him already, or at least you know his dad.

What's next for me? Well, I have a few irons in the fire. Ask me in person and I'll tell you what they are.

So, gentle reader, we've got a few weeks left together. Are there stories I need to tackle? Subjects I need to write about? Speak now or forever . . . well, you know the rest.
