Merry Christmas from the staff at Hillsboro Public Library! Remember, a book is a gift you can open again and again. The library has added a number of children's Christmas books. Here is a small sampling:

If your child thinks they would like to have Christmas everyday be sure to read "Merry Un-Christmas."

There are several legends about the tradition of hanging up Christmas stockings.

The book "The First Christmas Stocking" is a heartwarming story to read aloud to all ages!

"Christmas Remembered" will bring smiles to readers of all ages. It is great to share with grandparents, parents, and children. It will start many conversations about the good old days.

Here are some other Christmas books for children:

The "First Christmas Stocking" by Elizabeth Winthrop

A long time ago a girl named Claire learned to knit by her mother's side. As the mother knits mittens, scarves, and all sorts of clothing for the wealthy people of the town, Claire set about knitting stockings to keep her toes warm.

"Christmas Remembered" by Tomie dePaola. Tomie dePaola shares his love of Christmas in 15 vivid memories, which span six decades and are filled with all the delightful twists and turns his life has taken.

"The Christmas Toy Factory" by Geronimo Stilton.

"A Creature was Stirring: One Boy's Night Before Christmas" by Carter Goodrich. 'Twas the night before Christmas from the child's point of view.

"The Story of Holly & Ivy" by Rumer Godden.

Ivy, Holly, and Mr. and Mrs. Jones all have one Christmas wish.

"The Little Drummer Mouse: A Christmas Story" by Mercer Mayer. Glowing and friendly artwork brings enormous charisma to this cozy version of the Nativity.

Happy reading and Merry Christmas!
