Local threesome wins golf tournament
A threesome of local golfers won the golf tournament held at Hillsboro Golf Course on Saturday. Thirty-three golfers played in the event, which was contested in two flights.
Doug Dick and Stan Utting of Hillsboro, teamed with Nicholas Hett, Marion, to win the championship flight of the best-ball event by five strokes.
Steve Kealey, Darrel Kealey and Randy Wells from Abilene placed second. "Sweed" Osbourn, Mike Wallace, and John Tate from Newton placed third.
The first flight was won by the Wichita trio of Steve Jantz, John DeGrado, and Tim Warren.
Hillsboro teams of Phillip Thiessen, Anthony Thiessen, and Andy Friesen placed second; Clint Seibel, Max Terman, and Lawrence Ressler, placed third.
The next Hillsboro golf event will be June 11; a 27-hole, two-man (scramble nine holes, best ball nine holes, alternate shot nine holes).
