Loren (Fuzzy) Nuss
Loren (Fuzzy) Nuss, 72, of Hillsboro died Sept. 25, 2004, at Via Christi St. Francis in Wichita.
Born April 10, 1932, in McPherson, he was the son of Harry Nuss and Augusta Erion Nuss.
He grew up in Durham, attending grade school and high school there. He was confirmed and joined Trinity Lutheran Church, Durham.
He married Lois B. Zimmerman Jan. 10, 1950, at Durham.
After 20 years of service, he retired in 1969 from the United States Air Force. His military career began in 1949, and he was stationed at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas; Sampson AFB, Watkins Glenn, N.Y.; Forbes AFB Topeka; Rheon Main AFB, Frankfort, Germany; McConnell AFB Wichita; Ramey AFB, Puerto Rico; and Offutt AFB, Omaha, Neb.
The family moved to Durham in 1969 and he was in management at Hillsboro Industries for five years. He then was involved in farming and other business ventures.
He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, visiting with friends, camping, traveling, and joking with his Legion buddies.
Survivors include his wife of the home; sons, Bradley M. and Sheila Nuss of Hillsboro, Stanley D. Nuss and Linda Ewert of Durham, Loren Mark Nuss of McPherson, Gary and Merilyn Nuss of Wichita, and Brian and Cindy Nuss of Durham; daughter, Peni Jo and Stan Ens of Hillsboro; mother, Augusta Nuss Kottman, Kansas City, Mo.; sister, LaVonne and Ken Wenrich of Atwater, Calif.; 13 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Services were held Wednesday at Zion Lutheran Church with Rev. Clark M. Davis officiating. Burial was at Durham Baptist Cemetery, rural Durham, preceding the ceremony.
A memorial has been established with Zion Lutheran Church in Hillsboro.
